Birthday: 85 years old Sept. 17 (born in Kokomo). Celebration: Was taken to Cheeseburger in Paradise by her son, Brent. Occupation: Was a teacher for 40 years. Taught at Cowan, Monroe Central High School and Franklin Junior High and loved every minute of her career. Favorite pastimes: Belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma International Sorority, was president of Alpha Omicron Chapter. Also to Red Hat Society and RSVP and was a volunteer to read to the blind (IRIS). Secret to longevity: Keeping busy, exercise, Cardiac Rehab at BMH, Body Recall, physical therapy, going to car shows, Third Age Theater, church. Family: Husband, the late Harold "Buzz" Salyer.
