Make-A-Difference Day, October 25

It’s helping. It’s hands-on. It’s local. SATURDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 25, join with others in the congregation to help at several of the agencies First Pres gives financial support to. All of the agencies make a difference right here in Muncie year-round. This special day we focus on giving everyone in the church family an opportunity to do hands-on mission together. You’ll have the joy of working with others and getting to know them better. You’ll have the satisfaction of doing something to make people’s lives better right here in Muncie. You’ll be answering Jesus’ call to love your neighbor—love in action.

We’ll gather at the church for breakfast 8:00-8:45 a.m. and then off to our various work places until noon. Here are a few of the places and jobs from which you can choose.

Christian Ministries needs 6-8 people to man the phones for furnishings.

Habitat for Humanity Home Store needs 5 people to clean, prepare items for sale, and assist customers loading materials.

HFH Women Build needs 3-4 people to prepare/serve breakfast for 30 people and give out water and snacks.

Salvation Army needs 6-8 people to clean floors and windows, file, sort holiday applications and prepare plastic bags.

Second Harvest needs all the people they can get to sort food, repackage food, do maintenance work and office work.

NOT AVAILABLE ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25? Other days are available for your hands-on mission.

Muncie Mission needs work done by October 20 for their move to new building: sweep/vacuum 2^nd floor dorm; install plywood and wire; move shelves from the old building to the new; move walk-in cooler; sweep/vac the new office. (Time can be arranged.)

Beds & Britches needs 3 people to sort inventory Wed. Oct. 8, 9-10 a.m.

Children’s Clothing Center needs 2 people to sort clothes and stock shelves Wed. or Fri. from 12-2 p.m.

Harvest Soup Kitchen needs food. A team (4-8 people) can cook a meal for 150 any day in our church kitchen to be delivered to Harvest Soup Kitchen. ( Mission funds available to purchase food.)

Wayside Mission needs 4-6 people to paint a privacy fence any time Mon.-Sat.

OR—some more projects—you could do yard work for someone who isn’t able, or visit someone in a nursing home, or knit or crochet 9” squares for our blankets for Christian Ministries’ blanket chest—lots of possibilities.

Plan to join us—you’ll make a difference and have fun! Later this month, there will be a sign-up sheet (with a complete listing of all jobs) outside the sanctuary doors.
