First Presbyterian Pre-K provides children the opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually within a safe environment that exhibits love and concern for each child.

Pre-Kindergarten has been in

existence since 1955.

Purpose — Goals

We will help your child:
· Develop feelings of security and success.

· Learn to play with other children.

· Be comfortable within a social group.

· Develop self-expression.

· Learn communication and listening skills.

· Learn to follow directions.

· Develop self-control and self-discipline.

· Exhibit creativity and imagination.

· Learn responsibility and independence.

· Develop care and concern for others.

 

Our program believes in learning through play.  We will help get your child ready for kindergarten with music, playtime, hands–on activities, love and guidance.


Enrollment — Admission Policy

Enrollment begins each February for the following school year.  Contact the Director to obtain enrollment materials, or if you need additional information.  Students are eligible for enrollment if they are 2, 3 or 4 years old by September 1st of the year for which they attend school.  Children eligible for the 3 and up classes must be potty trained.


 

 

 

Daily Activities

Group Time — Students gather together at circle time for stories, singing, finger plays, show & tell, calendar, weather, current events and the theme—based lesson of the day.

 

Free Time — Children choose to participate in a wide variety of classroom activities.

 

Leader Experiences — Students rotate responsibilities such as line leader, talking about the calendar and weather, and helping during snack time.

 

Arts & Crafts — Daily creative activities are incorporated into free time and allow children to experiment with a wide assortment of media and processes.

 

Snack — This is a learning experience as well as an energy booster.  We always say a prayer and work on our table manners!

 

Active Play — Children enjoy physical exercise and play on the outdoor playground or inside in Youth Hall. 

 

Clean Up — Students help clean their play area and classroom after free time.


 

Class Size

Class sizes are limited to 10 students for the 2 year old class, 14 students in the 3-year old classes and 20 students in the 4/5-year old classes.  There is a teacher and teacher assistant in each classroom.

Facilities

Classrooms are arranged to facilitate learning, play and social development.  A wide variety of activities allow children to explore their world.  Pre-K classrooms are located on the first floor of First Presbyterian Church.  Additionally, a fenced-in outdoor playground and a carpeted multipurpose room (Youth Hall) are available for recreation.

Parent’s Day Out

Parent’s Day Out is offered on Monday, Thursday and Friday 9am—noon.

Children must be 15 months-age 5.  Cost is $8 per day with a $15 supply fee per semester.  This program offers interactive play, craft time, snack and music. 

Pre-school students may go after morning pre-school into the PDO class for $2 a day.  Pick up is at 12 noon.   

Programs

The school year generally begins the last week of August and runs into the middle of May.  Vacation days are scheduled throughout the year.

Two –Year Old Program

(Must be 2 years old by September 1)

Tuesday or Wednesday

 9:00—11:15am

cost $40 month/one time supply fee of $30

Three-Year Old Program

(Must be 3 years old by September 1)

Tuesday and Thursday

AM Class: 9am-11:15

PM Class:  12:15-2:30pm

Cost: $70 month/one time supply fee $65

Four/Five-Year Old Program

(Must be 4 years old by September 1)

Monday, Wednesday & Friday

9:00—11:15 a.m. 

cost: $95 month/one time supply fee of $70

9:00 - 2:20pm with lunch bunch

Cost:  $212.50 month/one time supply fee of $125

Tuesday & Thursday

9:00—11:15 a.m.

Cost: $70 month/one time supply fee of $65

Monday—Friday 9:00– 11:15a.m.

Cost: $165 month/one time supply fee of $110

Enrichment Program

(Must be enrolled in another pre-k class or in kindergarten and must be age 5 by December 1)

Tuesday & Thursday

12:15—2:30 p.m.

Cost: $70 month/one time supply fee of $75

Supervised lunch is available on T/Th when you choose T/Th Am Class and Enrichment for an additional $20 month
