The Lewis Weber Gishler Memorial Scholarship has been awarded since 1987 when family, friends and parishioners created this scholarship to further expand Dr. Gishler’s commitment to education and excellence. The Rev. Dr. Gishler was Senior Pastor of First Pres from 1942 until his retirement in 1972. Always a strong supporter of higher education, the congregation built our present church next to the Ball State University campus during Dr. Gishler’s ministry. He and his wife Rosemary have ministered to countless college students and members of First Pres and the Muncie community.
Lauren Taylor, the daughter of Scott and Lisa Taylor, is graduating from Yorktown High School where she participated in Key Club and Student Council for four years and Spanish Club for two years. Lauren will attend the University of Evansville and major in nursing.
Bonnie Kaminsky will graduate from Burris High School. She is the daughter of Leonard and Mary Kaminsky. During high school, Bonnie served as president of Student Council, secretary of Key Club, and was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As a member of the four-time state champion varsity volleyball team, Bonnie was the recipient of the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award. She is also a recipient of a DAR award and a Storer scholarship. Bonnie plans to attend Butler University and major pre-pharmacy.

The Nancy J. Mannies Memorial Scholarship
The Nancy J. Mannies Memorial Scholarship will be awarded for the fifth year. Morry Mannies created this scholarship as a tribute to his late wife. Nancy was an active member of First Pres, served as a Stephen Minister and Deacon, assisted with our ministry to college students and faithfully attended the Dee Dah Day’s Friday morning study group. Nancy helped countless members of our community through her longstanding volunteer work at Ball Memorial Hospital and exemplary teaching career at Burris School. Youth and adults alike valued her friendship and hospitality.
