Beulah M. Lazar, 84     

MUNCIE - Beulah M. Lazar, 84 passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Grainola, Oklahoma September 27, 1923 the daughter of Harwood and Vivian (Shultz) Barbour and graduated from Grainola High School in 1941, then came to Muncie to live with her cousin Miss Eleanor Smith and attended Muncie Business College.

Beulah was employed for 11 years at Merchants Trust Co., now American National Bank and later for Muncie Community Schools for many years.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, and was involved with the women’s church circles. She was also active in Temple Beth-El where she was a member of Bethel Sisterhood and Hadassah. Beulah also enjoyed volunteering in several charitable organizations such as Christian Ministries and spending time with her children and grandchildren

Survivors include her daughter, Laine Petty, (husband-Mark), Muncie; three sons, Edmund Lazar, (wife-Mary), Newtown, Pennsylvania, Burton Lazar, (wife-Giesla), Richmond, Texas and Jeffrey Lazar, (wife-Cindy), Westfield; seven grandchildren, Michael Lazar, Rudy Lazar, (wife-Adriana), Cory Lazar, Madison Lazar, Alex Lazar, Kyleigh and Allyson Petty; two brothers, Ray Barbour, (wife-Clo), Parachute, Colorado and James Barbour, (wife-Barbara), Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Mary Louise Dust, (husband-Doug), Wichita, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph.

Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 W. Riverside, Muncie, with Rev. Ronald Naylor officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 5:00 until 700 p.m. or one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday.
