Dr. Darryl C. Harris, 73
MUNCIE - Darryl C. Harris, 73, passed
away Tuesday evening, November 11, 2008, at the Woodlands of Muncie, after battling
Alzheimer's Disease for several years.
He was born, February 10,
1935, in Peekskill, New York. He was the son of Lewis B.
Harris and Dorothy MacKenzie Harris of Massapequa,
NY.
Dr. Harris graduated from
Amityville High
School in New York.
He moved to Indiana to attend Indiana University where he earned his Doctor
of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree. He then earned special designation for
Children's Dentistry at Riley Children's Hospital of Indianapolis.
He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Indiana State Dental Association,
and Muncie Noon Optimist.
He moved to Muncie in 1963 to begin
his practice in Pediatric Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Muncie for 27 years.
Dr. Harris enjoyed sports car rallying, go cart racing, and was a spectator
of the Indianapolis
500 from 1957 to 2001. Dr. Harris held his pilot's license and enjoyed
photography.
He was survived by his
brother, Donald Harris, Pompano Beach, Florida; three children, DeAnn Ruoff
(husband-David) of Bellevue, Washington, Douglas Harris (wife-Jan) of
Columbus, Indiana, Dana Linder (husband-John) of Muncie, Indiana; nine
grandchildren, Garrett Ruoff, MacKenzie Ruoff, Joseph Greiner, Malachi
Greiner, Zachary Greiner, Douglas Chase Harris, MacKenzie Harris, Lauren
Linder, Kirsten Linder; and one great grandchild, Jackson.
Dr. Harris was preceded
in death by his parents.
Service will be 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Ron Naylor
officiating. Entombment will follow at Elm Ridge
Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Parson
Mortuary from 11 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service.
