James R. Taylor, 82        

Muncie - James R. Taylor, 82, passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Muncie, October 24, 1925, the son of Mary (Pettibone) Taylor and Guy Taylor. James grew up in Muncie and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1943. In high school, Jim met Marabelle Keppler and they were married on May 12, 1945. Following graduation, Jim entered the U.S. Navy and served overseas.

When Jim returned to the states, he was stationed at the Charleston, Rhode Island Naval Air Base where Marabelle worked in the Disbursing Office.

They moved back to Muncie following Jim’s discharge from the Navy and became partners in Guy R. Taylor Plumbing Company and later became owners of Jim Taylor Plumbing Company. Jim was a master plumber for over 50 years.

Both Jim and Marabelle served on the Board of Directors of Camp Isanogel and the Social Committee of Muncie Masonic Lodge #433. Other memberships include the American Legion, Moose Lodge, the Webster Lake Association, and he attended First Presbyterian Church.

Jim and Marabelle owned a summer home on Lake Webster in northern Indiana for many years.

Survivors include three children, all who graduated from Ball State University, two sons, Dan Taylor, Muncie and Dr. Scott Taylor, (wife-Lisa), Muncie; one daughter, Kay Lark, (husband-Darnell), Anderson; seven grandchildren, Lauren Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Erin Taylor and Blake Taylor, all of Muncie, Justin Lark, Amara Lark and Jalen Lark, all of Anderson; one step-grandson, Cameron Lark, Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Thomas, (husband-Carl), Muncie and Sandra Watters, (husband-Forrest), Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marabelle (Keppler) Taylor, who passed away September 12, 1998; and two brothers, Guy Taylor and Richard Taylor.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd., Yorktown with Rev. Dr. Ronald Naylor officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 Isanogel Rd., Yorktown from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at the mortuary at 1:15p.m., Monday.
