Mary E. Charles, 93

MUNCIE - Mary E. Charles, 93, passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Se was born in Roachdale, IN, August 24, 1914, the daughter of William Orville and Elsie (Batman) Brothers. She graduated from George Washington High School in Indianapolis, attended Sanderson Business School, Indiana University Extension at Indianapolis, and later in life Ball State University.

Mary moved to Muncie in 1960 and worked for Wearly Monuments for 19 years. She was a member of Indiana State Historical Society, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the American Revolution, Tri Kappa Sorority and First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Alexander Charles, Muncie; several nieces and nephews including, Jane Zicolello and David Luzney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh H. Charles; four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 2, 2008 at The First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ronald Naylor officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, Friday August 1, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
