Michael David Burton, Sr. (55)

GREENFIELD- Michael David Burton, Sr., age 55, of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born on February 9, 1956, in Greenfield, he was the son of Robert Burton, Sr. and Margaret (Ferris) Burton.  He married Rhonda Chambless in 1975.  After graduating from Greenfield Central High School in 1974, he attended Indiana Central College.  Mr. Burton worked at Eli Lilly in Greenfield and Indianapolis as a chemist for 33 years. 

Mr. Burton was a member of the 1973 State Champion Football Team at Greenfield Central High School.  He attended the Greenfield Church of Christ and loved yard work, the Indianapolis Colts, and his granddaughter. 

Surviving him are his wife, Rhonda Burton of Greenfield; sons, Michael David (Morgan) Burton, Jr. of Indianapolis, Aaron (Jacqueline) Burton of Muncie, and Kyle (Leah) Burton of Muncie; siblings, Sandy (Bill) Johnson of Indianapolis, Robert (Sheila) Burton Jr. of Indianapolis, and Charlene (Jackie) Henderson of Florida; mother-in-law, Juanita Chambless of Greenfield; granddaughter, Josephine; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenfield Church of Christ.  Pastor John Skomp will be officiating.
