HOME KOREAN CONGREGATION

Dave Jewett, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, was born in New Jersey and grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was a music education major at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and spent ten years teaching high school band, jazz band and orchestra in Spokane and Seattle while freelancing as a professional trumpeter. He earned a Master of Music in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996 and graduated from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 2006.

Dave and his wife Kim were married in 1993. Kim is fulfilled in her calling to be a stay-at-home mom and participates actively in the life of the church and the Muncie community. Kim has a business degree and several years of experience in the health care industry, and is a certified Kindermusik Educator. Dave and Kim are blessed with three children, Rachel, Natalie and Logan.

Until entering seminary in 2003, Dave was fulfilled as a “tent-maker” for Christ. Both he and Kim were active as leaders with Young Life. They participated in and led small groups and were members of the worship team at their local church. Though the son of a pastor, Dave had not considered vocational ministry until hearing God’s call to seminary; a call confirmed through prayer and the affirmations of fellow believers.

Dave believes that a church which seeks God’s kingdom, humbled and guided in prayer, grounded in scripture and worship, bound by relational fellowship, strengthened by faith in Christ and empowered for service by the Holy Spirit follows God’s call to share the good news with the world.
